I wanted to upgrade the speed and reliability of the wireless signal at home, but I knew almost nothing about networks. I started by doing some research on routers, looking for faster download speeds and stronger signal. I decided on a router but now I had to set it up to work at home while still being secure. So, I researched router settings to make my home network more secure. What I discovered security features like Mac Address Filtering, restricting access by a password, and encrypting the data that is being transferred from the router to the computers on the network. It was all very interesting to learn how these networks function and better understand the importance of security.

Introduction

A computer network is a set of computers that can communicate with each other. This communications can be achieved using Ethernet cables or wireless. have changed the way society communicates information through email, video, and websites like Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. This topic continues to be in the forefront of research as newer technologies and algorithms are required to transfer these large amounts of data from point to another point. Areas of research such as wireless ad-hoc networks and peer-to-peer networks are continuing to be in the forefront of this research.
