Data Videos and Contact Tracing

Data Videos and Contact Tracing

The effectiveness and success of contact tracing apps as a means to contain Covid-19 spread highly depends on the adoption rate. In countries where the use of such apps is voluntary, contact tracing apps are faced with some resitace due to issues related to privacy, lack of understanding of how the app works and some other misconceptions. Building on relevant efforts in the Disease Tracking project and the Data Videos project, the reserachers are exploring the utilization of Data Videos to encourage people to use  conrtac tracing apps as a means to contain the spread of Covid-19. The reserchers will first explore the main reasons that hinder the adoption of contact tracing apps and then address them through Data Videos or animated infographics that are supported and enriched by data. Finally the effectiveness of these Data Videos towards changing the perception of the users will be evaluated.
