Of all the electrical components residing in your computer, the CPU is likely the most important. CPU stands for central processing unit and as the name suggests, its job is to process instructions. This is the most vital job of all the hardware components as processing instructions is basically what makes your computer what it is. Ironically it is also likely the smallest piece of hardware in your computer, with modern CPU sizes comparable in size to a little square.

This is not because it is small and sensitive but because it is the only component that requires that you apply paste to it's surface to aid in keeping it's temperature down. Furthermore the giant cooling mechanism installed on top of it is often quite difficult to install
