COMP1260 > Application Software

Introduction

Web software are web applications that are accessed via a web browser over a network such as the internet or intranet. Web software is coded in a browser-supported language such as html, JavaScript, or perl. The popularity of web software comes from the ability to execute on any machine (Windows, Mac, Linux) that has a web browser.

Web applications are very useful since they allow a user the ability to access their files from anywhere in the world with the use of a computer that has internet access. You have seen many of these applications already. They vary from webmail applications such as "Windows Live Hotmail", "Gmail", Office applications such as "Google docs" and "MobileMe".
